The BBC documentary Chinese School rises a heat discussion on educational culture shock even on China's web!!!

In the documentary, several chinese teachers are invited to teach a group of English teenagers in the very chinese style!!! Even the walls in the classroom are decorated by chinese mottoes!!! And the morning exercises, and the 800m/1000m run!!!

There is an old chinese saying goes like this: A plant only flourishes the best in its local soil!!! That means the chinese teaching style is only catering to chinese students who have to take the collage-entrance exam!!! For decades of years, chinese students are taught those knowledge points that are useful to pass the exams through note-taking!!!

Teachers in those inland schools exactly where those teachers in the documentary come from are more bossy and intend to push students harder than teachers in big cities.

By the figures shown in the test called "PISA", chinese students perform better than their western counterparts. But, looking closer, the best scores winners have no advantages over western students!!! It's the low-score-getters drag the western team down. It doesn't matter so much. Those who are interested in subjects like math will devote themselves into it further and further, and those have no interest in it, by one way or another, will think it no use at all!!!

Under the collage-entrance exam shadow, chinese students have to take extra-curriculum classes. That's why they have to spend 10 to 12 hours a day on doing homework!!!
Some teachers seek this as an opportunity to add their finance bonus because the extra-curriculum classes are dearly fee-charging. It's said that some schools test the knowledge points what was only taught in extra-curriculum classes, which means if you don't take the class after school you can not pass the tests!!!

This is the vicious circle chinese schooling is!!!

I'd like to wrap up my practice on writing this issue by two bombshells: It's reported that a professor in an inland university give students condoms as Christmas gift under the guidance  of "opening up policy"; Well, after Xi is in power, the policy changed into carrying forward the traditional culture and opening up only in economic channel, some schools ban any happy-hours during western festival seasons on campus and confine students in classroom holding books!!!
